One day in Second Life – weird things happen
I for one, used the Emerald viewer for a long time and was very happy with it. It makes me sad to see all the drama that went on in the team with an ever more sad end: death of the viewer 
Was the success of the viewer what caused this? Power trips, ego boosting? I don’t know but when I saw my IM’s today, after being Away From Keyboard for a long time. I had a conference chat which you – as far as I know – only can include you if it’s a friend. Well, this guy or girl’s name I did not know. We did some research, the account has been removed and this avatar Whity visited at least Java Island, maybe Oriental too. So i guess it is possible to get all avatars in a sim in 1 conference call regardless if they are friends or not. Bug? No idea.
There are other weird things happening too, like i slap MM boards and the prize gets delivered. I click on keep and it is not in my inventory. It happens alot, if I just reloged it’s good but after X time it simply does not work anymore. Another weird thing is related to selling Linden Dollars. We have to do this to pay for tier, funny, you cannot pay tier in L$. Maybe funny isn’t the right word, it’s another way for LL to make money because you pay for the exchange. For those who sell Lindens too, check the confirmation email… I will not blog about what I think is wrong, i did sent an ticket to LL after i tried to email them about this.
This is what it said, I removed last names for privacy reasons, but it’s clear it is about Emerald and Lindenlab. It had urls which i removed. What it means I have no idea.

Displaynames new (comming) feature in SL
As of today there is the posibility to test this new feature on the betagrid. Lindenlab will through this into the world any time soon so I went out and put up signs at our main stores.
This feature will be in world and will cause at least confushion and at worst scamming. People can take walk around pretending to be Ina Pidgeon and have a displayname :: JI Fashion :: owner or something like that. You might think you really are talking to me while your not. You can check the profile name of the avatar to see if he or she is really who they claim to be. What am I talking about? The ability to change displaynames.

‘Display Names Project Viewer Now Available
After the flood of comments that greeted our announcement of the upcoming Display Names feature, we’re happy to announce that we are now releasing a Project Viewer to help us further test performance and let Residents get a sense for how Display Names would work should they go into production.
Once you download the Project Viewer, you’ll be able to freely change your Display Name via the Profile Pane of the right-hand sidebar. Once in production, Residents will be able change their Display Names no more than once per week, in order to cut down on the risk of impersonation. In the Project Viewer, however, there are no limits to how often your Display Name can change.
The Project Viewer will also let you see how names generally can be configured through your Preferences pane, where you can elect to see usernames as well as Display Names, or have your Second Life friends’ names show as a different color from other Residents. The release is hardwired to connect to a test grid, so that any changes you make there will have no impact on your main grid account.
As mentioned, reducing the risk of impersonation is one of our chief concerns as we roll out Display Names. Our original announcement had over a thousand comments, with myself and the team reading all of your feedback. Many of those comments touched on the danger of impersonation. We’re currently discussing the great ideas and constructive feedback you gave and we want to stress that we certainly recognise and share the concerns over impersonation. We’ll be talking more with you about those issues soon and if there are changes needed we will talk about what we are thinking.’

Lag!! and what we do about it :)
As you prolly noticed if you been to Java Island in the last few days, the lag was huge at times.
With help of some great Lindens the performance is so much better! I also disabled scripts to see the performance impact. We are able to move again YAY !
Scripts will be turned on soon, to see the effect. It is such a pity you can’t use translators when scripting is off. That is the most important reason to enable scripting and we will turn it back on later today.
LindenLab is working on lots of improvements, you can tribute by wearing low lag scripted huds/hair/boots etc. Have a great weekend and thanks for visiting ♥
