New CEO

Yes! He’s here (well at Linden Lab that is). Linden Lab hired a new CEO.

His name is Mark Kingdon. Philip Rosedale (curent CEO) says in the second life blog ‘He is a person with the rare and unusual combination of business leadership, creativity, and passion for Second Life that we were looking for. In terms of history, he has a background in art, economics, and business. He has been in successful and highly regarded leadership roles at two companies that are bigger than Linden Lab: Pricewaterhouse Coopers and Organic. He is a well-loved people leader who is fearless and can weather challenges and change.’

I think LL made a great choice by attracting him because of Mark has extensive hands-on experience with user experience design and he has a ton of experience leading companies and products with global reach, which is now essential given that the great majority of Second Life usage is international and Linden Lab will continue to grow as an international company.

To me Linden Lab is a sort of Tom Tom, THE world leader in navigation and founded in the Netherlands. Both companies are high technology driven and now slowly moving towards the next level in organisation. Great work! I for one can’t wait until the lag is gone – it is kinda bad atm- and the grid is more stable then it was :)

Philip will become chairman of the board, and be 100% involved and full time at Linden Lab. He says ‘ Second Life is my life’s work, and I am not going anywhere! I will focus on product strategy and vision, continuing to design the right kind of company, and being an effective communicator and evangelist about Second Life.’

Welcome Mark and many many many thanks to Philip Rosedale for creating this great world!
